You do not need to become a security expert. You just need to know where to look first. This checklist covers four areas: hardening what matters most, protecting your devices and the people close to you, finding what is already out there about you, and knowing who to call when something feels off.
Start with your own name. Google it, then keep reading past page one. Most people never do, and page four is usually where it gets interesting. Or pick up your iPhone and run Apple’s Safety Check. Two minutes, and you will see exactly who still has access to your location, your photos, your messages. Some of those names will surprise you. Then there is the one that costs nothing at all. Agree on a code word with your family for calls that feel wrong. Simple. And it holds, even against a voice on the phone that sounds exactly like you.

Tell us where to send it. Two fields, and it’s yours.
You do not need to do all of this in one weekend. Knowing where you stand is the part that counts.
The checklist is a strong start for most people and their families. It covers the first habits and checks that make a real difference to your digital security.
What it cannot do is look at your situation specifically. How exposed is your name already? Which of your family’s devices sits on the same network as your work laptop? What shows up when someone goes looking for you on purpose?
That takes a conversation. We are happy to have it.
